If you a citizen of the UAE or Switzerland, you don’t need to apply for a visa if you traveling to the other country. The two countries recently signed a pact to boost tourism. According to the pact, you don’t need to apply for a short term visa if you are citizens of the other country.

The pact was signed by UAE’s Ahmad Abdul Rahman Al Jarman, Assistant to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in Legal Affairs and Switzerland’s Maya Tissafi, Ambassador to the UAE. This pact is a part of the agreement that allows citizens of Schengen countries to travel without a visa to the UAE.

The UAE plans to add India and Russia on its visa on arrival list in the coming year. Switzerland isn’t the only one country that has short term visa exemption of the UAE. There are 33 more countries that are on the visa exemption rule. Other countries include — Australia, Austria, Denmark, Singapore, France, Finland, South Korea, and Spain.

Switzerland is a Schengen country

Schengen is an area in Europe that consists of 26 countries. Switzerland is one of them. These countries allow you to roam freely within them on one Schengen visa. It means these countries have eliminated border control within them. Some of the countries in the Schengen area include Iceland, Latvia, Italy, Germany, Greece, and Austria.

The Schengen visa costs 60 euros and lasts for 90 days. You cannot apply for it online as of yet. Go to any of your nearby embassy of any of these 26 countries to get the visa. The process is very easy and you get your travel visa within a few days. You will have to carry a photocopy of your passport, visa application form, a passport size photo, and a photocopy of your confirmed round trip ticket
