Swetha was a girl of twenty. She loved football. She was a zonal player too. One fine day, she was introduced to a new coach, Mr. Sathish who was a man of around thirty-five. He was married and had a life of his own. He was a very talented person and most of the players longed desperately to have him as a couch. He was a renowned person and familiar too.

Everyone knowing that Swetha was being trained by this person started praising Swetha saying that she was the luckiest person in the world. All this praise went to Sathish’s head. Swetha loved this guy to the core and was really happy to have him as her coach. Sathish was a very strict person. He always wanted things to happen in a formal way and if anything went out of control, Sathish would go out of control. Swetha had a really hard time practicing with him for it was quite difficult for her to cope up with him. But still, she liked it and found a great improvement in her playing techniques after being trained by him for just a month. Everything went fine except for the relationship between Swetha and Mr. Sathish. They weren’t even like a coach and a student though Swetha wanted a sibling relationship. Swetha had had a brother, who’d died in a road accident. Since Mr.Sathish resembled her brother, Swetha had a special brotherly affection towards him. But, Sathish had never even looked at her face during training sessions. Though Swetha knew that Mr. Sathish was a gruff person, she took up the courage to ask for him to be her brother. But Sathish simply despised her, saying that she can never come up to his level and so there could be nothing like a brother sister relationship between them.

After this hard talk, training with Sathish continued for Swetha and all was well until one day when Mr.Sathish met with a road accident. Swetha for greatly shocked. She didn’t want Mr.Sathish to leave this world like his own brother. She still remembered her brother being taken to the ICU, in need of blood; but there was no one to volunteer to give blood. Then, after a long but futile struggle, Swetha was informed that her brother was dead. This time, to avoid this incident, Swetha rushed to the hospital and found out that Sathish was in need of O -ve blood and surprisingly Swetha’s blood group was O -ve, and so with no hint of hesitation, she agreed to donate her blood. The arrangements were made as soon as possible and Swetha’s blood was indeed sufficient to save his life, but Sathish had to be in bed for a month since he had also broken his leg in the accident.

He spent one whole month in bed but, he considered it as the most precious time in his life for he used that time to regret the pride which has hidden various values of life from him, and finally he realized how important is a brother sister bond in his life. He felt that he had to reconcile with Swetha. As soon as he got cured enough to walk a few steps, he went in search of his life-saver, who hadn’t come to see him for the past month. While he desperately searched for Swetha, he heard the news that she had moved to California to pursue her career there, and when his heart yearned to ask about her return to her homeland, he got the answer swiftly that she will not be coming back anytime soon. Mr. Sathish took his path towards his home and nobody realised that his eyes were filled with tears….

After five years, Mr. Sathish was called to California to be the coach for a football team. He was immensely happy with this new opportunity and he took the offer immediately. Time didn’t let him forget his past accident and his life saver. Suddenly he got a spark reminder that his beloved sister had gone to California. Hope bloomed in his heart that he will meet his sister again.

Sathish reached the place and he got a comfortable zone where everyone would love to work at. He was then informed that he was a substitute for Miss Swetha, the former football coach, since she died in an accident. He was also told that she could have been saved if someone had volunteered to donate blood. Sathish tried to express his deepest condolences but his voice failed him. Though his mouth couldn’t speak, his eyes spoke as a substitute.

Please donate blood for it is good to have people living rather than merely having their sweet memories living……
