Pichai Sundararajan, more famously known as Sundar Pichai, has been named the new CEO of the search giant. He’s claimed to undoubtedly be one of the most suitable people worthy enough to be chosen as the CEO of Google. He was born in Chennai, India in 1972. He’s a man of absolute brilliance. Google Meet: Read the story of the person who is the next CEO of Google.

In the words of Maarten Hooft:

“…..I think Sundar is more of a great operator. While Larry and Sergey [Brin] have these visions and can start these initiatives, I think it’s Sundar that’s the guy that can just get it done.

He can assemble the team, he can appoint the right people, and he’s the one that makes it happen.”

Here’s what happened:

Google is creating a new company called Alphabet, for which Larry Page will be the CEO. Alphabet will thus become the main company, of which Google will be one of the subsidiaries. The newer Google will be filtered and slimmed down, of which Sundar Pichai will be the CEO. Even Larry Page takes great pride in having to choose Sundar Pichai as the CEO of the newer Google. He says:

“Sundar has been saying the things I would have said (and sometimes better!) for quite some time now, and I’ve been tremendously enjoying our work together. He has really stepped up since October of last year, when he took on product and engineering responsibility for our Internet businesses. Sergey and I have been super excited about his progress and dedication to the company.

And it is clear to us and our board that it is time for Sundar to be CEO of Google. I feel very fortunate to have someone as talented as he is to run the slightly slimmed down Google and this frees up time for me to continue to scale our aspirations. I have been spending quite a bit of time with Sundar, helping him and the company in any way I can, and I will of course continue to do that.

Google itself is also making all sorts of new products, and I know Sundar will always be focused on innovation — continuing to stretch boundaries. I know he deeply cares that we can continue to make big strides on our core mission to organize the world’s information.”

Here’s how Sundar Pichai climbed up the ladder of Google and ended up becoming the CEO:

He went to IIT Kharagpur, then Stanford University for MS, and then Wharton for MBA. Sundar Pichai joined Google in 2004 and he was the main reason why the Google Chrome browser and the Android OS were successful. He initially began working on the Google search bar in the top right corner but he ended up helping in the launch of Google’s own browser, Chrome, in 2008. In 2011, he was promoted to Senior VP and took charge of Gmail and Google Docs. In 2013, he replaced Andy Rubin, in Android. And then in August 2015, he has been named the CEO of the newer Google, a promotion that did not take many people by surprise because they just knew.

Pichai is known to be a team player, who can handle negotiations. He avoided making enemies at the company and always ensured that his team achieved the predetermined goals. Pichai had then come to be Larry Page’s right hand, and he was also going to assist Page in acquiring WhatsApp.

Thus, Sundar Pichai is a very determined man who knew just what to do, when to do and how to do. A man of knowledge in fact. After Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, he has become the second Indian man to be the CEO of one of the most important technological companies in the entire world. Indians never fail to surprise. Jai Hind!
