  1. BRAM STOKER’S DRACULA (1992)

Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992), directed by Francis Ford Coppola, is an American Film. The story is inspired by a novel Dracula written by Bram Stoker. Though Keanu Reeves performance as Jonathan Harker was badly been criticized, but the film Dracula was a box office hit and also gained positive review from most of the critics.

Story

Vlad Dracula has just returned from his victory against the Turks only to finds out that his wife, Elisabeta, has received a false report of his death which became the reason of her committing suicide. He angrily resigned his fate from God and committed himself to drinking the blood of human beings. He has waited for four centuries to finally meet the spirit of Elisabeta in Mina (one of the woman he tried to turn into a vampire).

2. NOSFERATU (1922)

Nosferatu (1922), directed by F.W. Murnau, is a silent German film masterpiece. The story was unauthorized adaptation of the novel Dracula written by Bram Stoker. The only change you will find is the change in plot and names. As a result, Stoker’s Widow went to court demanding the film to be destroyed (but in vain).

Story

Jonathan Harker visits castle of Court Dracula, a vampire, to sell him a house in Varna. Court Dracula sees Jonathan’s wife’s photograph and gets excited to visit Varna to meet her (only bring death and trouble with him).

3. UNDERWORLD (2003 to Present)

Underworld (2003-present), directed by Len Wiseman, Patrick Tatopoulos, Mans Marlind and Bjorn Stein, is a series of four films released till date and the fifth one is set to release next year with the title Underworld: Next Generation. The story of all the series is based on the conflict between Vampires and Werewolves.

Story

The first film (2003) Underworld’s story is about Selene (vampire and a death dealer) who is planning to kill all the Lycans (Werewolves) because he thinks that Lycans are planning to destroy the Vampire Elders.

The second film (2006) Underworld: Evolution’s story shows how Selene and Michael are planning to return to Marcus (the eldest Vampire left) and how they find out that Marcus is trying to free his imprisoned brother who is the most violent Werewolf.

The third film Underworld: Rise of Lycans (2009) shows mainly shows the events and origins which leads to conflict between Vampire and Werewolves.

The fourth film Underworld: Awakening (2012) shows how humans came to know about the existence of Vampires and Werewolves and how they are planning to eradicate them.

4. LET THE RIGHT ONE IN (2008)
Let the right one in (2008), directed by Tomas Alfredson, is a Swedish film. The story is based on the novel written by John Ajvide Lindquist with the same title.

Story

Oskar is a 12-year-old boy who is being bullied by his classmates and is thinking about taking a revenge. Then one night, he meets Eli (his neighbour and a vampire) and become her friend.

Daybreakers (2009), directed and written by Michael and Peter Spierig, is an Australian sci-fi film.

Story

The film takes place in the futuristic world (in 2019) where vast majority of the world’s population have been turned into vampires. Only 5% of human race have remained because of a plague caused by an infected vampire bat. And now the world is now being dominated by the vampires. And now, due to the lack of blood supply, these vampires attack anyone or anything for their survival.

6. INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE (1994)
Interview with the vampire (1994), directed by Neil Jordan, is an American film. The story of the film is based on the novel written by Anne Rice with the same title. The story will definitely provide you with enough information about the vampires as it is presented through the point of view of a vampire. The role of protagonist is played by Brad Pitt and the role of antagonist is played by Tom Cruise.

Story

The film starts with a reporter taking an interview of Louis de Pointe du Lac who has claimed that he is a vampire. He is explaining how he was turned into a vampire by Lestat de Lioncourt. And how Lestat trained him to live a life of a vampire.

The story is about a teenager Charley Brewster who loves to watch horror movies till late night. And one day he guesses that his neighbor, Jerry Dandrige, is a vampire and is responsible behind string of recent deaths. He confronted everyone about it but no one believed him and at last he decided to get Peter Vincent who has acted in films as a vampire hunter.

The Hunger (1983), directed by Tony Scott, is a British film. The film is inspired by a novel written by Whitley Strieber with the same title. The story is based on a love triangle between a couple (vampires) and a doctor.

Story

Egyptian vampire Miriam subsists on the her lover’s blood with the promise that they won’t age and John is one of them. They believed that by feeding upon the human victims they can possess eternal youth. But soon, John starts ageing rapidly (approximately 200 years after he turned into a vampire). A young woman was undergoing an experimental plastic surgery operation due to an injury which lead her to develop an orifice just under her armpits. The surgery made her blood thirsty and she started to feed others blood and spread citywide disease.

Story

The story is about Count Dracula, a vampire, who is dying of thirst because of the problem that he can only drink a virgin blood to survive. If he failed to drink a pure virgin’s blood, he can die permanently. He traveled from Transylvania to Italy in search of a virgin. Finally after he arrived in Italy, he found Marchese di Fiore who has four daughters (two of them are virgin). And Fiore desperately wants to marry off his daughters. Dracula successfully turned the eldest daughter into a vampire to regain his powers.
